Sam Huxtable is a queer/trans neurodiverse artist living and working on unceeded Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, in Boorloo.
Sam’s practice evolves across multiple disciples. They primarily work digitally, incorporating various modes of display and intervention through sculpture, performance, installation and various technological mediums.
Sam’s work negotiates the queer/trans body and psyche and looks for body alternative/alteration through new media to convey the liminalities and complexities that come with q/t existence. Recently Sam’s work has shifted moreso to navigating identity in parallel with the digital world. Earlier this year Sam has completed a residency at Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) exploring these themes, following their first solo show titled Value Unknown at Cool Change Contemporary in late 2020.
Sam also has a practice as a ceramicist, under the alias smlboy, and works as a studio technician at ClayMake Studio in Maylands.
